StageFront UpStage System Model: M519T

I still remember hearing my first set of CDT Braxials at CES five years ago. The high end dispersion was incredible. I was searching for tweeters on top of the door panel, in the pillars, and on the dash - but there weren't any ! All that sound was coming from a lone pair of speakers mounted down in the door panels.

It is a rare treat in an industry dominated by SPL (read:LOUD) equipment and flashy displays to come across something devoted to sound quality.


It is an exceptional occurrence to discover product that truly delivers that quality in a way that takes you by surprise. Of course, my next move was to get those speakers into my car.

I've had the pleasure of watching CDT maintain that level of quality. I know that each new release is something to look forward to. Yet even a steady stream of excellence yields few surprises. So when Matt from CDT invited me to step into their 2004 Show Car at CES in Las Vegas, I figured"Sure, why not. Another nice demo vehicle to check out"

CDT has broken another barrier with their Front Stage system. Too bad we can't drive with our eyes closed, because when you do, there is no right or left speaker. No perception that sound is coming from 2 sides of the car and bouncing around. Just a sense that there is a performance taking place dead center in front of you. And this with no 'center channel' speaker either. This is the kind of sound I went into the 12 volt business for.

After walking by hundreds of display booths and getting dozens of demonstations from manufacturers of their new equipment, it's hard for any one thing to stand out with a lasting impression. Front Stage formed such an impression on me. It is one of very few things that
